KLM Cityhopper is the regional subsidiary of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (part of the Air France-KLM Group). The airline, with its head office, the Convair Building, on the grounds of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in Schiphol-Oost, Haarlemmermeer, operates short haul services in and around Europe. Flights are scheduled to approximately 44 destinations but this can vary on the time of year and the carrier takes up differing routes when required to do so by its parent carrier KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
The company identity is identical to that of its parent carrier with the addition of “cityhopper” after the KLM Crown logo and the absence of “The Flying Dutchman” & “Royal Dutch Airlines” on its aircraft livery. A reworked font style is about to be released in line with the airline's modernisation and marketing campaigns since 2008.
The airline has 5 fully crewed UK bases in operation, inherited from its purchase of Air UK and subsequent merge in of the KLM UK brand. To that end several hundred British Cockpit and Cabin Crew continue to operate KLM cityhopper flights from the UK and the Netherlands across the carrier's network.
In line with its parent carrier and despite the operation of smaller aircraft, KLM cityhopper offers a 2 class cabin on the majority of its flights over 50 minutes.
KLM cityhopper operates a very successful structure of feeder services to its hub at Amsterdam with regular, well timed departures daily from all over Europe that complement the connecting intercontinental services from its parent airline and Skyteam partners.

The airline was established on 1 April 1991,[1] started operations the same year. It was formed from the merger of NLM CityHopper and Netherlines. As part of KLM restructuring plans, its regional subsidiaries (including KLM UK) merged in November 2002 under the KLM cityhopper name. It is wholly owned by KLM and has 910 employees (in March 2007).[2]
KLM Cityhopper has its head office in the Convair Building on the grounds of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in Schiphol-Oost, Haarlemmermeer.[3][4] In 1999 Schiphol Real Estate (SRE) contracted out a parcel of land to begin construction of the Convair Building.[5] The building also houses the offices of KLM Recruitment Services.[4] Originally the KLM Cityhopper head office was in the airport's Building 70.[6]
Several of KLM’s internal European routes are operated by both KLM and KLM Cityhopper, depending on the time of day, the day of the week and the time of year.
The KLM cityhopper fleet consists of the following aircraft (at Oct 2011) Average Fleet age 16.1 Years (at Oct 2011) :

* One additional Fokker 70 is in a VIP configuration and is operated for the Dutch Royal Family and the Dutch cabinet.
In June 2009, the Air France-KLM group confirmed the purchase of seven further Embraer 190 jets to begin delivery in the first part of 2010. The additional order of Embraer aircraft and the transfer of Fokker 70 aircraft from Air France regional in 2009 allowed KLM cityhopper to phase out its Fokker 50 fleet. Delivery of the further Embraer aircraft will begin in the early part of 2010 and be complete by September. All Fokker 100 and Embraer 190 aircraft are configured to 100 seats, allowing a more economical two-cabin-crew operation.
KLM Cityhopper operated its last Fokker 50 flight on 28 March 2010 as the winter timetable ended; both Fokker 70 and Embraer 190 aircraft will be deployed onto the type's former route network. PH-OFA / FA-001 KLM Cityhopper decided that the final destination of their oldest Fokker 100 was to be preserved with the historical Fokker collection at Aviodrome Lelystad. In 2011 KLM Cityhopper donated another Fokker 100, the PH-OFE to Schiphol. This aircraft has been modified to house an aviation hisory exhibition. It has been placed on Schiphol's panorama terrace and can be visited free of charge.
In November 2010 KLM announced a new order for five further Embraer 190 jets for Cityhopper to replace the last 5 Fokker 100 in service. Deliveries will start in 2011 and will continue until 2012. The Fokker 100 fleet is currently used for standby & charter flights only.
KLM cityhopper will decide in 2011 on a replacement for its large fleet of Fokker 70 aircraft, which are not expected to operate beyond 2015 at the latest.
